Bob's Discount Furniture Teams With "Wheels for the World" To Assist The Elderly and Physically Disabled Around The Globe Campaign Effort On Saturday, Sept. 9th In South Portland, ME To Solicit Wheelchair, Crutch & Walker Donations For immediate release: 8/21/06 (South Portland, ME) - Bob's Discount Furniture, the fast-growing New England furniture retailer with 22 stores located throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey and New Hampshire, announced today that it is teaming with the "Wheels for the World" program in an effort to help physically challenged people throughout the world. On Saturday, September 9, 2005, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Bob's Discount Furniture, 333 Clarks Pond Parkway, South Portland, ME, is asking the public to drop off donations of wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches that will be distributed to needy people in various countries through the Wheels for the World program. "If you have a wheelchair stored in your garage or basement, or related assisted walking device, we are asking you to stop by Bob's Discount Furniture and donate that item to someone that needs immediate help to gain mobility. Thanks to the Wheels for the World volunteers, the donated items are refurbished and distributed worldwide," said Cathy Poulin, director of Public Relations and TV personality, Bob's Discount Furniture. "Unfortunately, there are many countries where wheelchairs and walkers are considered luxury items". The Wheels for the World program through the year 2005 has distributed over 35,000 wheelchairs to over 70 countries and also collects crutches, canes, walkers or other rehabilitation equipment through a volunteer organization called Chair Corps.
